One of the most-anticipated tenants at Birmingham’s new Pizitz Food Hall, the Ethiopian restaurant Ghion Cultural Hall, is opening today.
The restaurant anchors the southwest corner of the Pizitz building, which is at the intersection of 18th Street and Second Avenue North in downtown Birmingham.
The menu features lamb, beef and vegetarian dishes, as well as Ethiopian coffee.
Ghion Cultural Hall started in Atlanta, and the new location in the food hall is believed to be the first Ethiopian restaurant in Alabama, according to developer Bayer Properties.
“This will be what we think is the first Ethiopian restaurant in the state of Alabama,” Sam Heide, vice president of leasing for Bayer Properties, said in an earlier interview with AL.com.
